Those were just some of the sustainable food items on offer. All of the participating vendors brought out their best. The spread of hor d’oeuvres at this event was spectacular.
When photographing an event like this, there is always a little bit of a scramble. We try to document all of the items in a near pristine state. The food is set out fresh with guests already in the room. That means we have to work fast, and sometimes wait for fresh trays of food to be set out. Regardless, our goal is to get a good shot of each food item. We also want to capture the flavor of the overall event.
Sustainability
The Farm to Plate Gala is put on by the Sustainable Food Center and is all about bringing local producers of sustainable food in direct contact with the consumers of that food. Farmers and Chefs alike show up the serve some of the best tasting (and looking) food you are likely to get anywhere in Austin.
The Farm to Table Gala allows guests get to interact directly with those growing and preparing their food.
Barr Mansion Event Photography – More Than Just Food
The gala is held on the grounds of the beautiful Barr Mansion in north-east Austin. Guests enjoyed drinks, live music and socializing around the mansion’s grounds.
Events like this Barr Mansion event photography are a bit hybrid. On the one hand we are trying to capture all of the food and drink in details, on the other we want to document the social nature of the event so viewers of the photos know what to expect at future events like it.
Josh loves pushing the boundaries of what is possible with photography. He spends much of his personal photography time working with multi-flash lighting setups on location. He loves crafting a photo shoot to solve a clients problems whether it is on location or in the studio.
Josh is a Texas native and long time Pflugerville resident. He started his photography business in 2009 and has never looked back. His photo business even allowed him to be daddy-day-care before his two sons reached school age. Over the years his business has expanded to include just about every type of photography including wedding, automotive, editorial portraits, corporate events, sports and food. Through it all, he has continued to love wedding photography for genuine moment, the fast pace and the diversity of subjects it offers. Josh is a co-founder of North Austin Pfoutographic Society and a resident instructor at Precision Camera & Video in Austin, Tx.
